What do the cabinets in your home look like? If you’ve spent any amount of time living there, they might be a little bit worse for wear. This makes sense, of course. Kitchen cabinets see usage pretty much every single day whether it’s reaching in to grab pots and pans or to grab a quick snack. In some instances, your home’s cabinets might be a little outdated.
Not to worry though, because the team at Barco’s Painting of Colorado is here to help! One of our specialities is interior painting, and there’s rarely a transformation quite as grand as painting or refinishing kitchen cabinets. As a matter of fact, that’s the topic of today’s post. If you’re in the market for doing a little something to make your kitchen a cozier place, we would love the opportunity to help. Keep reading to learn more!
What Do You Want Your Cabinets to Look Like?
There’s no doubt that oak and maple have been the reigning wood species used to make cabinets for the last several decades. As hardwoods, oak and maple are strong and sturdy, and as you know, cabinets need to be durable. So why cover them up with paint? The answer is that you don’t necessarily have to.
For awhile there, the trend was to stain cabinets with an orange or yellow finish. As with many trends, what looked great at the time hasn’t necessarily aged gracefully. That’s okay!
Maple doesn’t generally have a particularly strong grain pattern, but oak does. Regardless of the wood that was used to make the cabinets in your home, the team at Barco’s is here to help. Perhaps you’d like to create a look that is timeless. Painting the cabinets white ought to do the trick! Maybe you’d prefer something a little more modern. How about gray? If you want to make a statement, choosing blue, green, or yellow can also be used. You could even have us paint the lower cabinets one color and the upper cabinets another color. At the end of the day, the choice is yours.
What About Keeping the Wood Grain?
Perhaps you don’t want to paint over your cabinets because you love the look and feel of wood in your home. That’s understandable! It provides a nice warmth that few other things can match. Not to worry, because the team at Barco’s can also handle cabinet refinishing. Perhaps you’d like something a little darker than what you currently have. A walnut colored stain may be the right choice. Maybe you’d prefer something more natural, but less orange-y yellow. There are plenty of great options that we’d be happy to recommend!
Bringing a bit of the outdoors inside has long been a way to make a living space feel more — pardon the pun — natural. There’s something special about having pieces made out of wood in your home, and cabinets are no exception. This is particularly true if you have cabinets that are older. As the saying goes, they don’t make things like they used to. That means that depending on the age of your home, you might be enjoying cabinets that feature hand-cut dovetail joinery or some other method of construction that doesn’t exist except for in top-of-the-line custom cabinetry that no one can afford. It would be a shame to cover that up, and that’s why we offer cabinet refinishing with high-end detail work. It doesn’t get much better than that.
